11/04 – 3/07 Academy of Art University San Francisco, CA
As the Network Manager I managed a 4-person team of network and system admins responsible for multi-million dollar data and VoIP infrastructure.
I evaluated, budgeted, and implemented a $3-5 million budget for network, server, and telephony infrastructure.
I defined the university’s IT Policies and Procedures.
I managed vendor negotiations with over 50 vendors, including contract negotiations with cellular providers and telcos AT&T, SBC, TWTelecomm for voice and data.
I defined and negotiated contract requirements and vendor SLAs, monitored vendor SLA compliance and terminated contracts below SLA.
My team upgraded the entire Cisco LAN/WAN network infrastructure to acommodate our new company-wide VoIP system - over 60 routers and switches, and 650 phones were replaced in 6 months.
I personally "test-drove" new WLAN system and designed a new 1000-user meshed WLAN from scratch. I then trained my team to administer and deploy the new system.
I performed hands-onconfiguration and testing of Cisco routers, switches, PIX, Netscreen and Fortinet 1000A, 100A, 60A firewalls, FortiAnalyzer 800, Bluesocket 2100, 1100, and 400 WLAN controllers, Blackberry Enterprise Server (BES) and "sat in" for my Sr. Network Engineer for 3 months while she was away on maternity leave.
I set up and customized Debian Linux, Apache, MRTG/Syslogd servers to monitor T1, Bonded T1, (Frame DIA/Pt-Pt) DS3 (20Mbit-45 Mbit ) OpteMAN Ethernet (20Mbit), and entire ethernet LAN, servers, and NTI environmental monitors supporting this 6,000 person campus.
Environment: Cisco, Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003, Debian Linux, Fortinet, Bluesocket, Windows 2000, XP, Mac OS X
